Penny Taylor is a self-taught photographer who began her profession as an apprentice to photographers in New York City.  After moving to Naples, she worked as a staff photographer for The Naples Daily News, a 35,000 circulation daily. Receiving her BA from the University of South Florida, Taylor has taken post-graduate studies at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Taylor established her studio in Naples, Florida in 1983 specializing in commercial, portrait and editorial photography.  Her clients include Johnson & Johnson, Northern Trust Bank, General Motors, Massachutes Institute of Technology, Comerica Bank and PNC.  Her work has appeared in the New York Times (cover), Chicago Tribune, Modern Health Care magazine(cover) and  American Lawyer magazine.  Taylor has been a member of the American Society of Magazine Photographers since 1994.

Taylor’s photographic talent demands varied subject matter. Commercially, her  reputation for  portraiture and for product photography is widely respected.  In her portrait photography, Taylor has the talent to put her subjects at ease while her camera records a depth of personality not normally revealed on film.  Her product photography blends skill and photographic technique with an artist’s eye for shape, color and texture.  Her photographs combine a command of her medium with a sense of freshness and innovation.

In her personal work, Penny Taylor blends her background as a journalist with her vision as an artist to produce images of Southwest Florida that stimulate, haunt and provoke. She has had numerous exhibitions in Southwest Florida and her feature  writing accompanying her  photographs have been published in area magazines.

Taylor is dedicated to advancing the camera as a tool of communication and expression.
